The Faculty/Staff file server will be restarted tonight at approximately 10:30 PM.  The outage is expected to last only 10-15 minutes.

Zeller’s migration to new hardware went very well this time.  It is up and running again and appears to be fully functional.  Please contact ITS if you have problems connecting.

I have begun working on our second application server, Zumsteeg.  It will be down for several hours.

The Faculty/Staff File server will be restarted at 5:00 PM today to recover from a backup error.  This reboot should take 5-10 minutes.

Zeller is having a problem with one or more of its hard disks.  I am currently attempting a hard disk repair on the server.  This will take a couple hours to complete.  I will keep you posted on the progress.

The Primary Novell Application Server (Zeller) will be unavailable from 5:00 PM, April 17 to Noon, April 18.

The Faculty/Staff File Server and the primary network authentication server will be unavailable from 11:45 AM to 2:00 PM on May 7, 2009.

Due to recent performance problems with the Faculty/Staff GroupWise Post Office, a new Post Office has been created and about 100 accounts were moved it last week.  We will be watching both PO’s closely for problems.  We are looking for this to help performance for all Faculty/Staff users.  If you have difficulties with your account please contact ITS.

There has been continuing work performed on the Faculty/Staff File Server Migration over the weekend.  Several users’ home directories (P: drives) have been moved from the old server, Mahler, to the new server, Mozart.  If you experience problems connected to your home directory, please reboot and login to get the new drive mapping.  Following this, if you still have problems, please contact ITS.

This morning a small change was made to GroupWise WebAccess.  When you go the http://gww.anderson.edu, instead of being redirected to https://gww.anderson.edu/gw/webacc, you will be redirected to https://gwwc.anderson.edu/gw/webacc.  You will still be accessing the same server but the name has just changed a bit, notice it is ‘gwwC’ now.  This has been done as a preliminary step to providing a second, redundant WebAccess server in the near future.  If you currently have a shortcut or bookmark saved with the full path to ‘gww’ it will continue to work for a while, but once the new server is added to the mix it may no longer work.  The best option is to create or modify your bookmark to point to http://gww.anderson.edu.  This will allow for the correct redirect to happen.
