Our Internet Service Provider, IHETS, has scheduled a maintenance period on December 29, 2008 from 7:00 AM to 10 PM. During this time all services provided by IHETs may be unavailable. What does this mean? Anyone on-campus will have no access to the Internet (i.e. google.com, anderson.edu, cnn.com) and anyone off-campus will have no access to campus resources (i.e. GroupWise, Moodle, PeopleSoft, etc.). Please be aware of this outage and schedule your campus-related activities accordingly.

The maintenance has been performed and the PO is back up. The account moves are again in process and should be done by morning. Our apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused. Hopefully we will reap the benefits of the split soon.

The maintenance process mentioned earlier is taking quite a bit longer than expected. The current estimate for restoring service is between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM this evening.

The new student email post office server is down to resolve a disk problem. It should be restored to fully functional by 4:00 PM, if not sooner.
The account moves are nearly complete. We anticipate them to be completed by tomorrow morning. If you are still missing mail after this, please let us know. ITS@anderson.edu

We are in the process of making some changes we hope will alleviate some of the slowness that has been seen regarding GroupWise access recently. Some student mailboxes are being moved to a new post office of a different server. While this process is mostly transparent to the user, there are a couple things that you may see. The first of these is that your connection address may automatically change to st2008.anderson.edu from post.anderson.edu or aust.anderson.edu.
The second item may cause alarm, but hopefully this will help. During the time your mailbox is actually being moved you may not see some or all of your mail. This is temporary. Logout and wait about an hour and try again. Your mail should reappear.

In the interest of combating the slowness with GroupWise access recently, GroupWise WebAccess (GWW) will be down today for a brief maintenance period. We are giving the server additional resources to handle the large load. The outage should last only 10-15 minutes and will begin at 10:30 AM. Access to GroupWise will still be available via the client.

Over the past several days AU has seen a rash of spam, seemingly from ouselves. Each of us has received messages from our own address. This is because someone is spoofing our email addresses. There is nothing that can be done at the server level to stop this. The best and only way to effective deal with this problem is to simply delete the messages in question.




The wireless module that controls wireless access points in the library, OLT, SOT, Byrum, Hardacre, and Fine Arts went down at aproximately 5:15pm. Service has been restored as of 5:25pm.

We experienced some issues with GWW over the weekend. There were some intermittant outages at various times. The issues have to resolved and GWW is working properly again.

The wireless in Morrison Dorm and surrounding areas went down last night, and was down until this morning at aproximately 8:15 a.m. This was due to hardware failure.
