



The Faculty/Staff file server will be restarted tonight at approximately 10:30 PM. The outage is expected to last only 10-15 minutes.
The primary application server will be restarted this afternoon at 5:00 PM. The outage is expected to last only 10-15 minutes.

Outgoing mail is being processed at a normal rate however there is an overabundance of it resulting in slow delivery. One external account was being used for spamming and was clogging the system. This Gmail account has been identified and has been blocked. Apparently this user configured his or her account to relay messages (authenticated) using our SMTP server. Previously sent messages are in the queue and will be delivered as such.

Zeller has been restored. I just kicked off a backup in case the failure occurs before a solution can be achieved.

Zeller is having a problem with one or more of its hard disks. I am currently attempting a hard disk repair on the server. This will take a couple hours to complete. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Due to recent performance problems with the Faculty/Staff GroupWise Post Office, a new Post Office has been created and about 100 accounts were moved it last week. We will be watching both PO’s closely for problems. We are looking for this to help performance for all Faculty/Staff users. If you have difficulties with your account please contact ITS.

We have received a replacement for a faulty wireless blade in our primary router. The removal of the old one and the placement of a new one will take 60 to 90 minutes. Once we begin this process there will be no wireless service in Library, Olt, Byrum, Fine Arts, Hardacre, Fair Commons or SOT. Wired service should be available as usual.
